11月5日雅思作文真题1

Some people think individuals are more and more dependent on each other.some people think individuals are more and more independent. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

11月5日雅思作文真题2

In history, the American philosopher and writer Thoreau proclaimed the importance of self-reliance,because being independent,in his perspective,is an essence of integrated personality. With centuries passing by,the social setting and background have changed but it seems that Thoreau would be disappointed if he found that we are more inextricable close each other.

Some people advocate that we less rely on each other than we did in the past. One reason responsible for this is the disintegration of conventional families in most countries in the world. In the past, family members lived under the same roof and they were bound up with some traditional family values such as filial piety and benevolence. It means they would care about each other and sometimes showing unnecessary courtesies is also highly valued. However, the shift in family structure has made the conventional big families into nuclear families, which are made up of two parents and children with much simpler relationship.

Another group of people argue that the social members are more closely associated with each other. We are faced with more complicated and daunting work than before for the reason that our society has developed in a full speed. The ever-challenging task can hardly be soundly handled with the individual capability, which means that cooperation will play a pivotal role in whether the task can be accomplished. In this way, individuals are inevitably connected to each other.

Personally,I believe that the connection between individual is closer.Modern technology facilities the communication from the global level and we have more chance to build relations with people from all walks of life. The soaring cost of living also makes it hard to live totally on one"s own,and dependence on each other is a sensible way for this dilemma.

11月5日雅思作文真题3

When it comes to the issue about how independent people are in the contemporary society, some people may argue that people begin to live on their own instead of relying on others, but others believe that individuals are still related to each other tightly.

On one hand, individuals are encouraged to express their ideas and feelings currently, which contributes to their independence to some degree. It is acknowledged that creativity is focused on in modern society and it actually means that one needs to challenge the authority with new ideas. Through such a process, people actually could establish confidence gradually, and critical thinking has become a necessity for the public, allowing the public to be more independent.

On the other hand, division of labor strengthens the relationship among people. It is common that, in current enterprises, employees do have their specific tasks and they need to cooperate with each other. Also, on the global scale, countries are related to each other due to globalization. The direct consequence is that employees cannot accomplish a task independently without peers’ assistance; similarly, a country may not develop its economy if it is isolated from other countries.

From my own perspective, these two phenomena do not necessarily contradict each other, and they could be observed simultaneously. Taking living individually as an example, people could live a comfortable life even if they are separate from society. For instance, one could order food, domestic service and other service through the Internet, and then they do not need to rely on their relatives any more. However, living alone does not mean that one is totally detached from society. It may not challenging for some introverted people, like Otaku in Japanese, to stay at home for even a month without going out, but it may be difficult for them to have no access to social websites for a single day. The popularity of social platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, actually enables users to communicate with each other online, which actually reflects that people may live an independent life on the surface, but their social ties are maintained and even stronger.

People believe that using mobile phones and com*rs to communicate. Therefore, people are losing the ability to communicate with each other face to face. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

  (2)手机和电脑交流时不用注意对方的手势和表情,导致我们对声调、表情等非语言因素阅读能力的下降;

  (3)手机和电脑交流时我们只关注远方的人,忘记与附近的人进行情感交流,导致交流失败。

11月26日雅思真题作文2

Now you are benefiting from the use of mobile phone and the Internet as social interaction media, could you imagine what your daily lives would be without these inventions? Some people claim that individuals are gradually losing face-to-face communication skills. Nevertheless, from personal perspective, online communication cannot make people lose the ability of offline communication.

Apparently, excessive use of the Internet and mobile phones has been undermining our interpersonal relationship offline. Even during a face-to-face conversation, it is no rare thing that everyone is busy looking at his cell phones, neglecting his friends or families across the dinner table. In addition, it has become incredibly easy to contact each other electronically and share information instantly in social community. Gone are the days when people could only communicate via fixed telephone or writing letters which took several days to reach others. So no one is not crazy about smart phones and com*rs which boast cutting-edge functions like sharing photos and videos with more friends simultaneously.

In spite of the popularity of technological progress mentioned above, never should we turn a blind eye to the irreplaceablity of face-to-face communication. It is common that many schools impart knowledge to students by teaching in classrooms instead of distance education. The same is true of the cooperation among companies, which needs face to face conversation to acquire trust with each other in advance. Furthermore, although online contact may possess increasing numbers of friends, the permanence of mutual relationships cannot lack face-to-face interactions, which can be confirmed by the example of the closest friends and even loving couples. Besides, solving tricky issues are generally more effective and more convenient by surrounding colleagues or friends then by those who live and work in remote places and need online communication.

As far as social interaction is concerned, although the cell phone and the Internet have updated the lives of the current generation. People cannot forget how to make offline communication with each other.

11月26日雅思真题作文3

We live in a world where communication through modern technology such as smart phone and com*r is so prevalent that it’s hard to go anywhere without seeing someone texting, emailing, writing blogs and tweeting. Of course the use of technology can be good. It provides us with faster, more efficient ways to communicate with others, but it can also harm our ability to communicate with people face to face.

Studies have shown that students who rely so heavily on technology have trouble communicating in person because they don’t quite develop all of the necessary skills to hold or even start a face-to-face conversation. For example, students who are constantly texting with abbreviated forms of words such as “LOL” and “OMG” have begun to speak with the same acronyms. This form of talking is often seen as flighty and uneducated. Furthermore, in the face to face communication, especially the serious ones, such as interviewing someone, or just meeting someone for the first time, we need to catch the subtle tone in their voice, see their expression as it changes from sad to outraged, and look them in the eye to see if they are trustworthy. Yet most of these skills have been lost to our obsession to the smart phone and com*r.

In addition, many of us have formed the habit of using the smart phone even when they are with their friends. The unspoken subtext of checking text messages in front of friends is: “Somewhere else there is someone who I care about more than you. I want to know what they have to say more than what you have to say to me now.” In this way, we are devaluing our current situation, the friends and family around us, our surroundings and setting, for something going on elsewhere. This is certainly a complete disrespect for the people we spend time with in person, which may ruin our relationship with them.

In summary, though I believe the smart phone and com*r are very useful in speeding up our communication with others, they may prevent us from finding enough time to communicate with real people in person and even worse, they may result in ineffectiveness or even failure in our face-to-face interactions with others.

11月19日雅思写作真题1

In recent years, living alone has become increasingly normal around the world, especially in those major cities. There could be several reasons why this is the case, and I believe that it has both positive and negative effects on our society.

There are various reasons why many people choose to live by themselves. Firstly, because of urbanization and globalization, a growing number of people of working age have to live in cities far away from their hometown, especially those who just graduate from universities. As they d not want t disturb or be disturbed by their parents, they prefer to live by themselves. Besides, the increasing awareness of independence may also have an impact on the choice of how to live. In addition, the convenient transport, such as railway and airplane and technology like mobile phones could meet the demand for contacting with our family members and friends both physically and emotionally, which provides the possibility for us to live on our own.

In my view, the rapid increase in the number of one person households has both beneficial and detrimental effects on our community. From the perspective of economy, the trend of living individually could lead to the increasing demand of housing, which could boost construction industry, real estate, bank and other related industries which provide services and products for homeowners. On the other hand, people living along for a long time might suffer from depression and feel isolated since they lack a sense of community, which is not good for neighborliness.

In conclusion, on the societal level, living by oneself can have both positive and negative influence.

11月19日雅思写作真题2

Today, more and more people, especially in developed countries, choose to live alone. Some even go so far as living all by themselves even if they have a spouse. Obviously, the benefits of living alone are multiple: freedom to come and go as you please; the space and solitude all to yourself; kingly or queenly domain over the bed. However, as far as I see it, all these benefits do not come without prices.

To begin with, as TV has taught us once and again, the single-occupant home can be a breeding ground for eccentricities. In a sense, living alone represents the self let loose. In the absence of anybody else and his/her watchful eyes, the solo dweller is free to indulge his or her odd habits: no dish washing after dinner, standing naked in your kitchen at 2 a.m., eating peanut butter from the jar, and so on. You may do these things again and again until it is too late for you to make a change.

Then, for people who are comfortable and even good at living alone, there is often another concern: a fear that the concrete has set, so to speak, on their domestic habits and that it will be difficult to go back to living with someone else. A friend of mine got married after having been single and living by himself for many years, only to find that he was always quarreling with his wife because, in his words, she was constantly picking faults with his habits and lifestyle. It is only a long time later that he realized he had to give up those oddities he picked up when he was living alone.

It is, of course, a matter of personal preference whether one chooses to live all by himself or with his friends or family members. If he finds freedom more important than anything else, living alone is certainly a good choice. It would be the best choice of his if he understood how to avoid the perils, too.

11月19日雅思写作真题3

In the current era, there is a phenomenon that the public prefer to dwell separately rather than reside together. This essay may examine the possible reasons and potential effects to the society.

To begin with, a stronger sense of privacy may lead to the tendency of living individually. In the past when people lived with relatives together, their personal lives might be interrupted by others easily. However, the public may raise their awareness of privacy and moving out of the big house in the past may be their priority. Then, they could better enjoy their personal lives since they are free to make their schedules.

In addition, single person households may arise from technological progress to some degree. Decades ago, when letter writing was the only choice for communication, people might choose to live together to avoid inconvenience caused by long-distance information exchange. However, current technology enables individuals to chat online even if they are far away from each other. Then, people could select any place to live alone since Internet makes people stayed connected, but not isolated.

In terms of the influence on society, social relationships may not be maintained. Taking family members as an example, even if they could communicate through iPhone or other devices, inevitably, they may have fewer and fewer face-to-face activities together. Then, the emotional tie among family members may not be strengthened since they are accustomed to living on their own, not to mention the relationship among friends who do not get in touch frequently.

In sum, the notion of protecting privacy and technology advancement may account for why individuals intend to dwell by themselves. As for the influence, social bonding may not be so tight anymore.

2月11日雅思真题大作文1

Around us there are many people who are ambitious and always work hard to achieve what they want, but there are also many who seem to have nothing to squeeze out of life. My observation is that people with ambition are more likely to succeed in life than those without.

To be sure, ambition is like the force driving people to move on toward their goals. With certain ambition in mind, people will set about making plans, taking actions and then will persist when they encounter difficulties. My friend John is a perfect example. Ten years ago, when I first got to know him, he told me he dreamed of becoming the best photographer in this country. Then he began to travel to all places in China, no matter how dangerous and remote they are and just last month he published his first photography book which contains a lot of fantastic pictures he took. On the other hand, if one does not have ambition, s/he may sim* loaf around without knowing what lies ahead. Indeed, this kind of life is perhaps not that bad, for it is carefree and less worrying, but it contributes little to one’s success in life, if success is defined as earning more money, staying at the top of the social ladder or making more contribution to the world.

Seen in this light, ambition is undoubtedly something positive and healthy. But like anything else, ambition may become negative and harmful if it is not treated properly. I know many ambitious people who end up in prison because they tried to realize their ambition through illegal means, and I also know a few people who made suicidal attempts after they failed to achieve their ambition. So honestly, ambition is like both an angel and a devil. Whether ambition becomes an angel or a devil depends on how people take it.

2月11日雅思真题大作文2

In the current era, many individuals show their ambition to success, such as gaining power or earning a lot of money. In my opinion, ambition can contribute to success to some degree, but it often turns to be a negative characteristic.

  第二段就写ambition对成功多重要

Ambition can assist individuals to fulfill their targets as one of the most significant motivation factors. Everyone used to have or has their life targets, but only a few of them are potent to really achieve their dreams. It is because there exist a lot of obstacles that hinder people from concentrating on their careers, such as lacking money or lacking time. Strong ambition for career progression could serve to spiritually support people to overcome difficulties they encounter. Nevertheless, admitting the significance of ambition is not assuming that it is positive to individuals in all conditions.

  第三段开始吐槽加班狂的人生的缺陷。。。

To begin with, being ambitious in success may lead to imbalance between work and personal life. It is true that ambition can motivate individuals to work nonstop, but work is not the only content of life. When workaholics spend all of their time on work, other aspects, such as exercise or family members, will be inevitably neglected. Even if they achieve their dreams, they may get some diseases like obesity or hypertension or feel lonely since they have no time for family activities. Thus, ambition may make people occupied by work all the time.

  第四段就写容易好高骛远的毛病~

In addition, people who are ambitious to be successful often do not care details. A lot of people, especially youngsters, intend to become leaders of organisations or enterprises. However, such positions require candidates to not only have strong ambition but also have abundant working experience. Many leaders of famous enterprises used to be salesmen who had to promote their products but not every ambitious person is willing to carry out some basic tasks at the beginning. Thus, ambitious people may lose interests in performing some seemingly trivial tasks, which in turn deprives them of the opportunity of success.

  最后一段总结一下之前的理由就好~

To sum up, it is true that people cannot lack ambition as a motivation factor if they intend to be successful, but more often than not, ambition impacts negatively since ambitious people may ignore other aspects of life and dislike doing basic tasks.

Some teenagers took part in kinds of activities, such as musical classes, sports classes and so on, but others only focus on one activity which is important to them. Which idea do you support, please provide ideas and give some examples.

10月22日托福独立写作真题2

Under the current educational system, the extracurricular activities designed for students are playing an increasingly important role. Therefore, among parents and teachers, there arises a controversy pertaining whether teenage students should participate in various activities or focus on one activity. Towards such a long-running tug-of-war, I strongly recommend teenagers to engage in more kinds of activities, for the following reasons.

Initially, getting involved in more activities can be conducive to the well-rounded development of students. It is self-evident that different activities can equip participants with various skills and abilities. To illustrate, students attending musical classes can learn how to appreciate the classical works of famous musicians and thus improve their aesthetic capability. Similarly, participating in team sports will help students cultivate a sense of cooperation as well as enhance their leadership. After having obtained the above skills, students definitely can develop in an all-round way, with the result of becoming more competitive than others. In contrast, specializing in only one kind of activity is a totally different picture. In other words, students just foster one particular skill, which is a potential obstacle to their future development. The underlying reason is that the more and more complicated modern life necessitates the acquisition of multiple skills.

Furthermore, taking part in many after-class activities can do a better job in helping students find what they are interested in. Just as a saying goes, interest is the best teacher, which clearly indicates the great role played by interest in all levels of education. The above claim is especially true of teens education, because they are in the puberty, the most rebellious period. Put it in another way, without the drive of their own interest, they are less likely to perform well in any activities required by their teachers. In this case, offering various activities to adolescents undoubtedly can more effectively stimulate their interest and passion. Once they find what they like, they will automatically put more efforts and time in it. However, requiring all teenagers to solely engage in one activities may fail to cater to the interest of the majorities of them.

All in all, we can draw the conclusion that it is a wiser move for students to attend multiple activities, in order to obtain a holistic development and find what they are passionate for.

10月22日托福独立写作真题3

In their free time, young people (age14-18) spend time taking part in different activities such as music lessons or competitive sports. Some young people devote their time in other kinds of activities. But other young people will spend most of their time focusing on one activity that is important to them. Which approach do you think is better?

The old saying “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” still remains relevant as it did centuries ago. The question of what kind of extra curriculum activities should kids do after school has never failed to attract spotlight. Should they focus on one single activity or is it better for them to devote their time to various activities. Personally, I think it is in the kids’ best interest to get involved in multiple kinds of activities based on the following reasons.

First off, doing various activities makes the kids bored and more extra curriculum activities mean that they enjoy a better chance to try different things and find their real interest. For instance, playing sports all the time will probably drive the kids crazy since they can be very energy consuming and it might lead to injuries in their bones and joints. One’s meat might be others’ poison, indeed nobody really knows what their preference lies in unless they are given the opportunities to do different activities. Actually switching from one activity to another gives the kids the opportunity to explore their real interest and tap their unknown potential. A kid who lacks of flexibility and coordination when doing sport might be talented in playing chess while one who cannot concentrate in the classroom might be very gifted in playing sports. Trying out different activities can help kids to find something they are really interested in and eventually they can develop and build up confidence.

Additionally, students can develop lots of useful skills and release their pressure in life and study if they do different activities. For example, playing group sports can help them to get comfortable teaming up with others and develop cooperation awareness. This kind of experience and awareness can help them get prepared for future jobs since willingness to cooperate and coordinate is regarded as a very valuable quality and working together with others are necessary for the future working environment. Plus, learning music and how to play piano can help someone to develop a taste in music. Music can serve as a source of comfort and love, at the same time it is conducive to release negative emotions like sorrow, depression and even anger.

In conclusion, it is more advisable for kids to do various activities since it helps kids to explore their interest and tap their potential, more importantly it can help kids to develop useful skills and get them prepared for future jobs.

Some people argue that they would have more choices if the number of TV channels increases, but some would think that it would lead to poor TV programs. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

  有人觉得电视频道数增加会有更多的`选择,但也有人觉得这样会导致节目质量的下降。讨论双方观点并给出你的观点。

雅思媒体类写作真题2

Gone are the days when people’s choice for TV programs was extremely limited. But the phenomenon of accessing to a growing number of TV channels arouses various argues for citizens. Before rendering my position, I aim to critically discuss both views and come up with my own opinion.

Those who support more TV channels are mainly due to the fact that they make it easier for individuals to choose different TV programs according to personal tastes with diverse interests. For instance, some young people tend to enjoy entertainment or exciting programs while the elderly are more interested in news channels. Furthermore, an easy access to various kinds of programs gives great convenience for individuals to meet their mentally developmental needs. Specifically, some children may watch educative programs to broaden their horizons while certain adults are likely to watch series in order to enrich their leisure time.

Nevertheless, some people claim that more programs cannot guarantee their quality. First and foremost, there is no distinct line between high-quality and low-quality programs, resulting in the production of TV programs with poor quality compared with excellent similar programs. On the other hand, the professional quality of program producers is not capable of keeping up with the number of TV programs. It is inevitable that a number of channels are poor apologies. Even worse, it is difficult to control the process of talent shows which may include unexpected scenes, contributing to exerting an undesirable effect on people’s, especially on youngster’s psychological development.

As far as I am concerned, although increasing TV channels have shortcomings, such as negatively influence individuals’ mental development because of unhealthy programs on TV, they are in a position to give enormous satisfaction to residents who have various needs as long as certain poor-quality programs are restricted by authorities concerned.

题目:There are more and more people tend to travel to other countries during their holidays.Do you think it is appositive trend or negative trend for the countries they travel to?

  范文

Nowadays, there are a growing number of people preferring to travel abroad for vacation, which boosts the tourism industry in nations they visit. However, this tendency produces several negative effects in some aspects.

On one hand, international travel does enhance the dissemination of local culture and customs as well as stimulate economic growth. Statistics show that every year thousands of foreign tourists pay a visit to Beijing, Shanghai and Yunnan which are world-famous cities in China. There are no better chances for them to have a deep understanding of grand architecture in Qing Dynasty when visiting the Forbidden City; to appreciate the rhythm and scenes of Shanghai opera when watching a fantastic show in Yu Garden; to experience the happiness and blessings of the Water-Sprinkling Festival when celebrating the moment with people of Dai nationality. Meanwhile, much attention can be paid by natives and authorities to the preservation of cultural heritage.

In addition, in order to meet the high demands for accommodation and catering, hotels and restaurants spring up around tourist attractions, which creates lots of job opportunities as well as promotes the prosperity of local economy. It is particularly true for countries such as Thailand whose state revenue mainly depends on income of tourism. What’s more, the appealing and exotic cultural customs brought by overseas visitors contribute to the cultural diversity.

On the other hand, overseas travel diminishes national identity, which can be proved in the situation where Chinese people decorate Christmas trees and exchange gifts at Christmas so as to cater to the needs of tourists from Western countries. Instead, less passion and enthusiasm were hold by citizens especially young people about Spring Festival. Besides, the environment of scenic spots might be destroyed. Reports reveal some travelers from developing countries tend to dump garbage in natural parks or smoking in non-smoking zones, in which case, local government has to allocate funds as well as labor to solve environmental issues.

In conclusion, as far as I am concerned that numerous tourists from abroad flock into resorts has brought more advantages and in order to benefit more from the overseas travel, it is vital for government to launch campaigns to strengthen traditional values of citizens and regulate the penalty for wrongdoings.
